Nº 39: Bilingualism and education. The current situation of the network of Bilingual Schools in Andalucia.

Here, we analyze the development of the Multilingual Project and the effects of bilingual teaching in Andalusia.

The investigation team from the University of Pablo de Olavide, led by Francisco Lorenzo, analyzes the development of the Junta de Andalusia’s Multilingual Project and its effects in this edition of the News Collection (la Colección Actualidad). The team investigated a total of 61 schools – 32 primary schools and 29 secondary schools – and took into account the development and opinion of 1,329 students, 398 teachers and 972 families. The report shows various tables and graphs in which it is possible to see the linguistic competency of the students and teaching staff, the use of the secondary language and feedback from students, family members and coordinators, drawing the conclusion that students in a Bilingual Program show an increase in linguistic competency from the outset.
